This year’s recipients are:
DENTSPLY/Harold Slavkin Oral Health Science Education Award
Presented to a K-12 teacher who has demonstrated creative and innovative use of science curricula to teach oral health, which imparts excitement about oral health and oral health research.
- Heather Pizzo and Jennifer Eiben from the Susan Byrnes Health Education Center in York, PA will receive this award for an incredibly innovative oral health education curriculum for grades 1-3.
Media Award of Excellence
Presented to a company or journalist demonstrating distinction in reporting on craniofacial, oral and dental health research and/or disseminating oral health information.
- The Washington Post and authors Jo-Ann Armao, Mary Otto and January W. Payne will receive this award for their editorials and articles on Maryland 12 year-old Deamonte Driver and dental care in America.
- Scientific American – will receive this award for its publication “Oral & Whole Body Health.”
Outstanding Public Advocacy Award
Presented to an individual who has helped foster improved healthcare for patients and other health consumers through advocacy efforts for specific patient groups and/or public education activities.
