NIH Receives First Funding Opportunity:
$200 Million for "Challenge Grants"

Yesterday, President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 after Congress passed the bill on Friday. The Act, otherwise known as the Economic Stimulus Package, will contain $10 billion in aid to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Broad Areas Defined
NIH defined 15 broad challenge areas:

HHS.gov/Recovery is a web site that lets you, the taxpayer, figure out where the healthcare and human services money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is going. There will be several ways to search for information. You will find information about the various HHS Recovery Act programs, information about grants and contracting opportunities as well as weekly reports on fund allocation.
